JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be part of a large, experienced and dynamic tax team in the world’s largest aviation leasing company which is listed on the NYSE. The Tax Director will be a key member of AerCap’s tax team with a particular focus on both the quarterly and year-end current and deferred tax provision for the group as well as the tax aspects of various aircraft leasing transactions in a particular region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Support the review and preparation of annual and quarterly corporate tax provisioning and tax return filings for the AerCap consolidated group, including Pillar 2. This involves preparation of internal advice to support statutory filings for certain Irish tax aspects (for e.g. interest limitation rules, hybrid rules, and controlled foreign company rules), as well as any workings or input that may be required.
- Assist in directing group projects to identify, generate and implement tax efficiencies and planning opportunities.
- Monitor developments in the changing tax landscape ensuring that AerCap is prepared for and compliant with these developments.
- Member of the transactions tax team, which is responsible for reviewing, structuring, documenting and managing the tax aspects and risks of purchase, sale, lease and other transactions within the group. This requires taking full responsibility for deal management, negotiation and completion of the tax aspects of these transactions in a particular region, and involves liaising with internal departments, including commercial and legal, as well as external parties.
- Manage the off-lease sale process which involves transaction structuring, documentation review and negotiation, and liaising with internal and external parties to identify any further efficiencies for this process.
- Assisting on ad-hoc projects as they arise.
JOB REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Education/Experience
- At least five years management experience in taxation, preferably within industry/ financial services or Big Four firm.
- The candidate should be AITI and ACA/ACCA qualified.
Technical/Functional Experience
- Excellent understanding of current and deferred tax.
- Experience of advising on aircraft leasing transactions (within practice and/or industry).
- Very strong planning, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Well organised, diligent and detail orientated.
- Solid understanding of information systems.
