Practice Tax Manager

Location: South Dublin, Ireland (boutique professional accountancy practice operating with an Irish representative of an international association.

Purpose of the Role
The Tax Manager will oversee the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring adherence to Irish tax legislation and professional standards. They will act as a trusted advisor, supporting the practice’s growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax compliance: Manage and review corporation tax, income tax, VAT, and payroll tax filings.
- Advisory services: Provide tax planning advice to SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and individuals. Also provide advice to foreign clients with Irish interests or wishing to set up operations in Ireland.
- Client management: Build and maintain strong relationships, acting as the main point of contact for tax queries.
- Technical expertise: Keep up to date with Irish Revenue guidance, Finance Acts, and international tax developments.
- Team leadership: Supervise junior staff, provide training, and ensure quality control.
- Practice development: Contribute to business development initiatives, including cross-selling services.
- Risk management: Ensure compliance with professional standards and manage risk in tax engagements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional qualification: Accountancy (ACCA, ACA) and tax (CTA).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in tax practice, ideally within a small/medium firm environment.
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of Irish tax legislation and Revenue systems.
- Client portfolio management: Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Leadership skills: Experience mentoring or supervising staff.

- Analytical ability: Strong problem-solving and technical research skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication for client-facing work.
- Organisation: Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
- Commercial awareness: Understanding of SME business needs and opportunities.
- IT proficiency: Familiarity with tax software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office.
