On the last Thursday of November, O’Reilly Hall hosted one of the most anticipated nights in the Institute’s calendar, the Conferring Ceremony. Flashes were seen across the hall with cameras and smiles out as we welcomed 271 newly qualified CTAs and Tax Technicians to membership.
Marking the occasion, Aoife Lavan, Institute President, congratulated the conferees on their achievement and shared pearls of wisdom for them to remember throughout their careers. “As qualified CTAs, you are highly skilled and knowledgeable on key legislation, and you are well equipped to advise on tax matters. However, the quality that really matters is your integrity. If that falters, no amount of technical expertise will come to your rescue. Like everything in life, trust is key and if you abide by the high professional standards the Institute sets for its members, you won’t go wrong.
“This profession allows you to … move with what your needs are and consistently provide you with opportunities. To help you to avail of these opportunities, I recommend becoming an active member of the Institute.”
We also welcomed our 2024 Third-Level Scholar, Isabel Keleghan, for her moment of recognition. We will support Isabel throughout her studies in the University of Galway and on the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) programme.
The high standard of the Institute’s work relies on the expertise and generosity of our members. This year our President, Aoife Lavan, awarded a Fellowship at the Conferring Ceremony to Feargal O’Rourke, IDA, for his outstanding contribution and commitment to the Institute and the tax profession.
To end the evening, we awarded the top students in the CTA and Tax Technician programmes. Congratulations to all our winners – Ross Kavanagh, Ryan O’Brien, Isobel Dunne, Niamh Weldon, Katherine Ronayne, Rory O’Brien, Jack Costello, Sarahjane O’Shea, James O’Rourke, David Tighe, and Chloe Hannon.
Prize Giving
Moments before the Conferring Ceremony, 19 generously sponsored awards were presented to our 2024 prize winners by the sponsoring firms. We are immensely proud of the winners – Ross Kavanagh, Ryan O’Brien, Isobel Dunne, Karen Collins, Kate Walsh, Niamh Weldon, Jack Costello, Sarahjane O’Shea, Lucy Fitzgibbon, James O’Rourke, and David Tighe.
We want to thank the 12 sponsoring firms for their generosity and continued support of the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) programme.
Revenue Conferring
Earlier in the day, the Institute jointly hosted a conferring ceremony with Revenue, awarding over 150 conferees with a range of Certificates and Tax Technician qualifications. Revenue Chairman, Niall Cody and Institute President, Aoife Lavan addressed the conferees and applauded each on their success.
Congratulations to all our new Associates, Tax Technicians, award winners, Fellow and scholar! We look forward to working with you in the future and supporting you throughout your career.
