On the evening of 24 November, we hosted one of the most anticipated nights in the Institute’s calendar – Conferring Ceremony 2022. It was great to be back in O’Reilly Hall, welcoming 301 newly qualified CTAs and a group of 26 Tax Technicians in person. The twinkling lights, flashing cameras, laughter and happy chatter marked the occasion and our conferees achievements appropriately.
Colm Browne, our President, congratulated the conferees and parted words of wisdom to take with them throughout their careers. “Your conferring is a milestone in your life: enjoy it and celebrate your achievement. The other key message I have for you is don’t let your involvement with the Institute end here tonight. Your graduation to full membership is the start of a new phase!… My advice to you is to stay connected to the Institute. You may not want to be President, you may not want to speak at a conference, but you might make a very good examiner or lecturer, you could contribute an article to the Irish Tax Review, write a book …. Or you could play an active part on one of the many committees in the Institute.”
We were delighted to also welcome our Third-Level scholars from the last 3 years – Matthew Talbot (2020 winner), Michaela Grace-Ginty (2021 winner) and Alisha Scollan (2022 winner). We will continue to support them throughout their studies and look forward to having them on our Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) programme.
Paul Nestor and his family joined us last night. Throughout his career, Paul has contributed so much to the area of tax. We recognised his work at our Conferring Ceremony by awarding Paul with a Fellowship.

Prize Giving
Before the Conferring Ceremony, 19 generously sponsored awards were presented to our 2022 prize winners by the sponsoring firms. We are extremely proud of this year’s winners – Ross Duffy, Seán Sheridan, Siobhan Murchan, Eve O’Hanlon, Dermot Kenny, Selina Kiely Ryan, Rachel O’Sullivan, Paul Hughes, Elizabeth Cooney, Conor Boland, Laura Walsh, Nicole Fitzmaurice and Killian Sheehan. We want to thank the 12 sponsoring firms for their generosity and continued support of the CTA programme.
Revenue Conferring
Earlier in the day, the Institute jointly hosted a conferring ceremony with Revenue, awarding over 120 conferees with a range of Certificates and Tax Technician qualifications. Revenue Chairman, Niall Cody and Institute President, Colm Browne addressed the conferees and congratulated each on their success.
Congratulations to all our new Associates, Tax Technicians, award winners and scholars! We look forward to working with you in the future and supporting you throughout your career.
