On the last evening of February 2025, we welcomed nearly 1,000 guests to the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road for Annual Dinner 2025. Guests from our member firms, the Oireachtas, Government departments, Revenue, State bodies, academia and the media dressed in black tie to engage in conversation over dinner.
Our President, Aoife Lavan, is a proud Mayo local. The backdrop for the night made her feel at home looking at Croagh Patrick over Clew Bay. With a piece of home behind her, Aoife highlighted the current uncertainty in international tax with an increasingly complex geo-political landscape. However, she urged the Minister and his officials to progress the areas they can control such as simplification of the tax code and of pensions. Read the President’s full speech.
We were very grateful to host Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, as our Guest of Honour who was only back from the G20 meeting in South Africa. The Minister delivered a keynote address in which he shared the current economic outlook and the approach to tackling external risks. He also committed to pursuing simplification of the tax code to maintain competitiveness and encourage innovation.
Thank you to each of our guests for fostering an electric atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you to future in-person events, such as Annual Conference 2025 and the Global Tax Policy Conference with Harvard Centre for International Development.
