Job Overview:

As the company expands its international footprint and provides Starlink (our revolutionary satellite low-latency broadband internet), Starlink Internet Services Limited is seeking an Indirect Tax /VAT Accountant for our Dublin office to help ensure that our tax reporting obligations are met.

The Indirect Tax/ VAT Accountant role will focus on the Europe and Middle East operations and will join our new and dynamic business division, Starlink.  Starlink provides satellite internet coverage to over 100 countries around the world.  Starlink’s mission is to deliver global internet access, and it is ideally suited to support rural and geographically isolated areas where internet connectivity is unreliable or nonexistent.

Based in Dublin, the VAT Accountant will have a broad and varied role. The ideal candidate will have experience of multinational organizations and is a flexible individual who is prepared to support the rapid growth of Starlink as the global broadband business matures.

The successful candidate will come from an accounting/finance background and will have an in-depth knowledge of accounting and VAT/or Taxes. You will play a key role in establishing a best-in-class process for accounting for indirect taxes.  The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting a variety of tax-related activities and contributing to ongoing tax process improvements.

Starlink is rapidly growing across the globe, and this role is central to scaling a best-in-class VAT accounting process with the support of IT/tax technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish Best in Class VAT Accounting process and controls and explore use of tax technology tools due to large volume of data.
  • Participate in process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting and reporting for indirect taxes.
  • Accounting for all VAT and Indirect taxes, in US GAAP and Local Statutory financial statements.
  • Preparation of VAT Reconciliations for Europe, Middle East and other jurisdictions as required and journal entries.
  • Ensure VAT compliance in various countries by reviewing VAT returns, ensuring accurate VAT reporting, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, (Tax, Accounting, AP) to reconcile between local filings and local books.
  • Manage tax filings and ensure all payments and submissions meet local tax deadlines and regulations.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and authorities to handle tax audits and resolve VAT-related queries.
  • Partake in ad hoc tax tasks as required by the business.

Key Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA/CTA recently qualified, or willing to pursue an accountancy qualification.
  • Systems experience preferable - experience with tax engines e.g. Vertex, VBA, SQL, or other tax technology supports.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, finance or tax with a strong emphasis on VAT in a multinational organization/Big 4 practice.
  • Strong proficiency in financial and accounting systems, including ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently produce work to and extremely high standard in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities.
