Job summary

The Assistant Tax Manager is a key role within the in-house tax team, supporting both UK and international operations of the global Group.

Reporting to the EMEA Tax Director, based in the UK, the role will focus on work and projects managed by the (predominantly UK-based) HQ tax team, with an international focus and a varied mix of compliance, advisory and tax accounting.

  • Preparation of entity and group tax provisions under IFRS – in accordance with the Group’s reporting timetable
  • Assisting with the preparation of outsourced UK tax returns
  • Overseeing the outsourced global compliance and working with advisers to ensure returns are timely and complete, and any issues are visible and escalated.
  • Supporting the wider international tax team with high profile and varied tax related projects including restructuring and legal entity rationalisation
  • Monitoring compliance with the group’s transfer pricing policy and responding to ad hoc queries.
  • Assisting with enquiries from HMRC, overseas tax authorities and statutory auditors
  • Business partnering – providing real-time tax support to the business for contract tenders, considering impact of withholding taxes and compliance with TP policy.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Advisor
  • Experience in mid/large-tier practice or in-house tax function
  • Strong corporate tax accounting and tax reporting
  • Strong excel skills.
  • HFM experience preferable but not essential.
  • Strong tax compliance experience
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate tax topics with varied stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster collaboration across international and cross functional teams.
  • Self-starter, curious and open to learning in a growing blue-chip environment.
  • Understanding of business models, and TP
  • Ability to anticipate, detect and communicate risk and assist with proactive problem solving.
