BDO Ireland is seeking a Tax Director to join our Private Clients Tax team on a part time basis.
Our Private Clients Tax team advises High Net Worth Individuals broadly comprising private business owner-managers, intergenerational family wealth and professionals. It also heads up BDO's dedicated Sports & Entertainment unit, advising elite sportspeople and entertainment industry clients on their Irish & Global financial and tax affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact for clients, proactively managing their expectations and needs.
- Manage a portfolio of clients of varying sizes across different industries, ensuring tailored tax services.
- Conduct and support the team with tax technical research necessary for client engagements and internal/external thought leadership.
- Oversee project management for client assignments, ensuring service delivery aligns with client expectations.
- Coordinate and allocate staff resources effectively to meet project needs.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, participating in their coaching, mentoring, and appraisal.
- Assist tax partners with the successful, timely, and commercial delivery of tax advice to clients.
- Identify opportunities for new products or services for existing and prospective clients.
- Support the management of the team's financial performance, including fee agreements, billing, cash collections, and monitoring WIP recoverability.
- Participate in the design and delivery of technical training programs.
Relationships:
- Develop strong working relationships with managers and other team members.
- Actively collaborate with peers across different teams and departments.
- Serve as the main point of contact for a range of clients, ensuring their needs are met with excellence.
- Develop a solid understanding of the firm's core values and how they align with departmental objectives, contributing to achieving firm-wide goals.
- Share knowledge and experience with others, including providing on-the-job training to junior team members.
- Assist with the preparation of client presentations, including board reports and tender/proposal documents.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- ACA / ITI / CTA qualified.
- 8+ years’ experience in a professional tax environment dealing with private clients and family businesses.
- Excellent technical knowledge of income tax, CGT and CAT legislation and relevant case law.
- Strong academic background.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Extensive experience in delivering high-quality client service across a diverse portfolio.
- Proven ability to cultivate strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Strong commercial and market awareness.
- In-depth understanding of the operational aspects of managing a tax team, with a focus on accountability and results.
